If you want to move up in the standings, you have to beat the team(s) ahead of you.

CUFLA Update?? Week 4

?Several teams get the game they’ve been waiting for this weekend. ?All the preseason plans, predictions and dreams come to a time and place of truth. For Bishop's, McGill, Western, Mc Master and Laurier, this will be a big weekend.?

In the East, McGill at Bishop's, Thursday night at 8:30, shapes up to be a pivotal match. Bishop's, who have ruled the east until last season claimed to be rebuilding. They split with Carleton, edged out Queen's and Toronto, but beat the third eastern hopeful, Trent. McGill, the preseason favourite, has predictably over powered U of T and Queen's, but dropped a game to Trent at the Lax Bash.?This game should answer some questions.

On Sunday at 2 pm McGill hosts the Carleton Ravens. In past years this wouldn’t be worth the ink, with scores like 22 -2 for the Red, but the upstart Ravens have already beaten Bishop's, Queen's and U of T, so they shouldn’t be taken lightly.

At Mc Master, Wednesday night, Mac hosts Guelph. They’ve squeaked by Western, and dropped a close game to Brock. A win over the defending champion Gryphons would set a new agenda for the Marauders.

The Western Mustangs and the Laurier Golden Hawks are in similar circumstances. Western hosts Laurier at 7pm Saturday, October 3. On Sunday Laurier hosts Mac. Does the whole season come down to one weekend? Two wins by the Hawks would shack up the status quo.

If that’s not enough for you, Guelph travels to Western for a 1pm game with the Mustangs on Sunday afternoon where a Western upset would go a long way to establish the home side’s claim to a playoff spot.?

This could be upset weekend or yet another opportunity for the pre-season prognosticators to claim their omniscience. CUFLA fans have lots of opportunities for exciting lacrosse and the best kind of “reality show “drama. What is more fun than an upset?
